Successful Joint Firefighting Exercise
On Tuesday, 21 April 2026, a joint firefighting exercise was conducted within the Elan area in cooperation with the Radovljica Firefighting Association, the Jesenice Fire and Rescue Service (GARS), and the internal fire brigade IPGD Elan. The purpose of the exercise was to assess the preparedness of response units and to strengthen coordinated action in the event of a fire in an industrial environment.
The exercise involved 116 firefighters from 13 volunteer fire brigades, internal fire brigade IPGD Elan, and Jesenice Fire and Rescue Service (GARS Jesenice) with an aerial ladder. The scenario included a simulated fire in a production facility, spreading to the roof area with a solar power installation, as well as trapped persons.
Firefighting tasks focused on an efficient and coordinated response, the establishment of sectors, command posts and deployment of units, as well as training in command and control, information flow, securing water supply, logistical support, and operations on the roof and near the solar power installation.
Such exercises are essential for familiarising firefighting units with the specific characteristics of industrial facilities, access routes and fire safety systems, and for comparing information from fire safety plans with actual conditions on site. Regular cooperation between the Elan and firefighting organisations increases preparedness, builds trust and, in the long term, contributes to improved safety of the wider environment.
